Picture of the Week

I thought this might be a cute feature to add the blog. You know I take lots of pictures, so I thought each week I could pick one of my favorites to post as the picture of the week! This one is of Chase when he saw the Moon on the ceiling at the museum. It was so cute because he was so excited once he spotted it!

We went to the Museum of Science and History on Saturday. Chase loved it, and we had a great time watching him explore everything. They had a wide variety of things to see...all kinds of animals, a science section, the history of Jacksonville, a planetarium, and even a kiddie section with a water table and a tree house! I think his favorite things were the animals and the planetarium. He loves the moon, sun and stars! He would really make his great grandad Hilwig proud! We started out in the underwater section and learned about dolphins and whales. Then we saw a big dinosaur skeleton, which Chase thought was pretty cool. Then it was on to the live animals....fish, snakes, lizards, baby alligators, and birds. We went on to the science section, which was pretty interestsing. They had a lot of "experiments" that Chase could interact with. We even played music on some interesting instruments! The history section didn't interest him much! Nick and I wanted to explore that a little bit, but Chase just wanted to run around!! Then it was down to the kiddie area where he could do whatever he wanted. He loved the water table and ended up soaking wet. Last, we watched a show in the planetarium about the constellations and some planets. He thought the planets were really cool. He fell asleep about 5 minutes before the show was over so we called it a day. Here's a short video of Chase telling about what he saw!

Happy Easter

Hope everyone had a nice Easter. I think Chase enjoyed himself this year. Here he is checking out his Easter basket first thing!! He went straight for the car. (Imagine That)!


We went down to Alyson's for Breakfast and an Easter Egg Hunt. Chase was into it for a few minutes...he found about 3 eggs and then started to throw them around. Then he decided he wanted to swing!! Cierra was the official winner of the hunt...her basket was bubbling over with eggs!

We hung around the house for the afternoon and then went over to Liz and Jeremy's for dinner. The guys cooked ribs and we had a huge spread of food. It was very yummy!! Chase ate tons of chocolate and was fired up by the time we got home!! Then he crashed when it was time for bed! Overall, we had a pretty good day.

Thank you NY Yankees

I'm not much of a baseball fan and everyone knows Nick loves the Phillies, but I must say we are now going to have to root for the Yankees too! I think it would be hard to be a part of VT and not root for the Yankees at this point. First, they donated $1 million to us after the shootings last April and now they have come to Blacksburg to play a game against our team! How awesome is that?!? I was just reading this article http://www.hokiesports.com/baseball/recaps/20080318aaa.html and I thought it was worth posting about.
I can't imagine how excited everyone on campus was about this. I find it exciting and I live 500+ miles away!! It is just an awesome feeling knowing how much support we have gotten from so many different people and organizations in the wake of the tragedy.
I remember thinking last April that we were going to forever be remembered as the school where the worst campus shootings took place, but almost a year later I can see that is not true. We will never forget that day or the people that were lost, but it is nice to see the healing is progressing. So many amazing things have happened since then and it makes me more proud than ever to be a Hokie!

Hi Everyone

I am expecting lots of visitors to the blog today! I thought it was finally ready for viewing so I just sent an email out to tell everyone to check it out! Hopefully everyone will enjoy it!! I plan to update it frequently so check back often to see what's new! Be sure to take the boy/girl poll and leave a comment if you like! If you have a blog let me know the website so I can read it too. If you don't have one, you really should consider starting one. I was hesitant at first, but have been having lots of fun adding things to it!! Enjoy!

16 Weeks!

I went for my 16 week checkup and quad screen (blood test) this morning. The appointment went well. The baby was very active, and we could hear it moving around when she was trying to listen for the heartbeat. I can't feel the movements yet, but it was cool to at least hear them! Our big ultrasound is scheduled for April 7th (think pink!!!) and then my 20 week checkup is April 17th. Here are some pictures that Nick took of me this morning. I think I officially look pregnant now!! Chase didn't want to be left out so we took a couple with him in them too!

I should have been a doctor!

It's just a minor ear infection and sore throat! Thank Goodness. We had a doctor that we had never met before, and we loved her. She was awesome with Chase and even said

that he was a charming little boy!! She prescribed some Amoxicillin and sent us on our way. We dropped off the prescription at Walgreens and went to the park down the street while we waited. I promised him McDonald's since he was such a good boy...Chicken and Fries Of Course!! Now he is back at Mamma Faye's and should be as good as new in no time (I am crossing my fingers that this is true)!

I am so over the "sick season"!

I am headed to the doctor with Chase yet again. Last week he had the croup and we missed 2 days of work/daycare. Yesterday afternoon Mamma Faye called to let me know he had a fever of 102.6. By the time we got home it was up to 103.2, so I gave him some medicine and things got better. He was a bit fussy at bedtime, and we decided that since he was sick we would give him a treat and let him sleep in our bed. BIG MISTAKE!! It was a very miserable night. He tossed, turned, kicked and even talked in his sleep!! He woke up around 3:30 and wouldn't go back to sleep. So, I got up and took his temp....101.1. I put him in his bed and then tried to get some much needed rest until my alarm went off at 5:10. I was so not wanting to hear that music when it went off!! I went to check on Chase and he was burning up. I didn't even put him through the torture of taking his temp again! So, I called the doc, called work, called Mamma Faye and layed down on the couch. We have a doc appt at 10, and I am hoping to make it into work afterwords. Oh, the drama of being a full time working mom!! Thank goodness my boss is pretty understanding, but it still gets frustrating. The work doesn't end just b/c I am gone!! BUT my baby come first, the work will just have to wait! I am hoping he just has an ear infection or something easy to clear up! He was telling me his ear hurt, but I am not sure you can believe a 2 year old sometimes!! I feel better getting it checked out though. I am definitely ready for the weather to get warm and stay warm. Enough of this up and down business!!

We had a great weekend with Grammy and Grandpa! They arrived Friday afternoon and we went nonstop until they left! Everyone was worn out by Sunday! We dyed Easter eggs on Saturday, and Chase really enjoyed it. We also went shopping for some new summer maternity clothes. Just a few more things and I should be set (hopefully)!! While we were shopping for clothes, the guys were shopping for a new grill. Nick found one that he liked, so they brought it home to put it together! After shopping, we went down the street to Aidan's birthay party, then it was home for a nap and time for dinner. Before we knew it we were all falling asleep on the couch. Then suddenly it was Sunday morning and time for them to head home. Chase kept asking to go too, but we had to tell him no!! We are looking forward to our next visit when we go to Myrtle Beach for Memorial Day.

OK, here goes

At the insistance of Lisa and Missy, I decided to give this another shot. I was reading their blogs and thought they were so cute that I should go ahead and make one for us! I decided on the 4 C's as our name since soon there will be 4 of us!! It's crazy to imagine, but the new baby will be here before we know it. I am 15 weeks now so only 25 more to go!!

This weekend is going to be a fun one. My Mom and Darrell are here visiting. Chase is already having a great time with them!

Well, I will try to write a better post soon and add some pictures too!! Gotta start somewhere though!
